Redwood City Police Arrest Suspects for Alleged Assault with Deadly Weapon

REDWOOD CITY, CA — “On July 15, 2025, at approximately 5:25 p.m., Redwood City Police Officers were dispatched to the 1400 block of Ebener Street after receiving reports that four to five subjects were assaulting another male in the parking lot, possibly stabbing him.

Officers who were in the immediate area quickly arrived on scene. As they approached, they observed the suspect van leaving the area while bystanders pointed to it as the vehicle involved. Officers followed the van as it continued eastbound on Woodside Road. A short vehicle pursuit was initiated as the driver of the van failed to yield to officers’ emergency lights and sirens.

The van turned onto Hudson Street and collided with a parked vehicle approximately half a mile from the original scene. The driver, later identified as 47-year-old Manuel Chavarria, fled on foot but was captured a short distance away. The front passenger, 36-year-old Gerardo Conrriquez, was uncooperative, refusing multiple commands to exit the vehicle. Officers utilized a police K9, who bit the suspect on his arm.
