National Night Out brings neighbors together in deep East Oakland, Grand Lake, Lakeshore, and Oak Knoll

On the first Tuesday of every August, residents across Oakland cordon off their streets for three hours to connect with their neighbors for National Night Out.

This year’s event boasted over 200 registered block parties from West Oakland to deep East Oakland, according to a press release from the city. Mayor Barbara Lee, Police Chief Floyd Mitchell, and other city officials visited several parties throughout the evening to meet residents and answer their questions.
