A swift response from fire crews last week successfully halted a brush fire that scorched approximately 10 acres near homes in the Palomares hills in Castro Valley.
The blaze, dubbed the “Palo Fire,” was first reported on Monday, September 1, in the vicinity of Palomares Road and Ewing Terrace around 1:52 p.m., prompting an immediate firefighting effort. By late afternoon, forward progress had been stopped and air tankers released from the scene, officials said.
