Light smoke was detected from an elevator room at Oakland’s Bret Harte Middle School on Monday, prompting the school to temporarily evacuate while firefighters investigated the incident.
Firefighters responded to 3700 Coolidge Avenue to a smoke alarm activation on campus at 12:10 p.m., said Oakland Fire Department spokesperson Michael Hunt.
