Man awaits trial on allegations he threatened to kill Oakland mayor

There is enough evidence to send an El Cerrito man to trial for allegedly threatening to torture and kill the mayor of Oakland, according to a ruling by an Alameda County Superior Court judge this week.

Judge Thomas Stevens ruled Tuesday that 45-year-old David Pokorny can be tried on allegations that he sent “a large number” of emails that contained racial slurs and threats to Mayor Barbara Lee.

Pokorny was arrested on Oct. 8 after a member of Lee’s staff found the emails, which were allegedly sent in September, according to court documents…
