BERKELEY, Calif. (KRON) — A University of California Berkeley student who died following a large and booze-fueled fraternity party was identified by a sheriff’s coroner Wednesday as George Mauricio Salinas, 19, of San Diego.
Police officers were called to Alpha Delta Phi, an off-campus fraternity on Greek Row, around 11:30 p.m. on Friday, November 14, for a “student who had possibly drowned,” the Berkeley Police Department told KRON4.
When police officers and firefighters arrived, there were more than 300 people partying with “heavy alcohol consumption” at the fraternity, according to BPD. Students reportedly nicknamed the frat “Aqua Delta” because it has a swimming pool.
Salinas was rushed from the party to a hospital where he was listed in critical condition, police said. The student, who was not a member of Alpha Delta Phi, died days later. His cause of death has not been released by officials…
