A magnitude 2.9 earthquake shook Oakland and the East Bay Monday afternoon, according to preliminary information from the U.S. Geological Survey.
The small quake’s epicenter was along the Hayward Fault — near the border of Oakland and Piedmont, not far from the Montclair Village shopping district.
