SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — BART is set to raise its fares once again as the clock strikes midnight on Jan. 1, 2026. The 6.2 percent increase, according to the transit agency, is based on inflation and will help generate $15.6 million in the new year.
Fares will increase by an average of $0.30, the agency said, from $4.88 to $5.18. Short hop trips, for example from 19th Street Oakland to Coliseum BART stations, will rise $0.15. A typical commuter trip, such as Walnut Creek to Embarcadero BART stations, will see an increase of $0.40, from $6.55 to $6.95.
The fare increases come at the same time BART station parking prices are also changing. Daily parking rates at most stations are increasing by $0.40 starting on New Year’s Day. Four stations will see an even higher rate hike, as much as $1.60 more…
