Bay Area Buddhist temple hit by second major fire

A large fire tore through a two-story Buddhist temple in east San Jose early Monday morning, according to the San Jose Fire Department.

Firefighters were dispatched at 5:37 a.m. to a mixed-use, two-story building on the 90 block of Foss Avenue, SJFD told SFGATE. There were no occupants reported inside and no injuries.

The structure houses the Chua Duyen Giac Buddhist temple, which was previously damaged by a fire on May 13, 2024. The previous blaze also sparked a three-alarm fire and led to four next door residents being displaced, SJFD said…
