Coliseum BART ‘Mobile Drug Store’ Traffic Stop Ends In 157-Gram Bust

A Thursday night traffic stop in the Coliseum BART station parking lot ended with officers seizing suspected cocaine, methamphetamine, and fentanyl that police say were packaged for sale. BART officers arrested the driver after concluding the car was operating as an apparent mobile drug store. The suspect was booked into Santa Rita Jail and is expected to appear in court later this month.

According to East Bay Times, BART police pulled the car over at about 8:10 p.m. and, with the driver’s consent, searched the vehicle. Officers reported finding roughly 157 grams of suspected cocaine, methamphetamine and fentanyl, along with individualized packaging materials and two digital scales. The driver, a 22-year-old Oakland resident, was arrested on suspicion of five drug-related charges.

Where the stop happened

The stop took place in the surface parking lots that serve Coliseum BART, next to the Oakland Coliseum and a key connector for event crowds and airport-bound riders. BART lists the station at 7200 San Leandro St. in Oakland, where the parking lots funnel drivers and riders toward the station’s pedestrian overpass. Law enforcement officials often target large-venue parking areas for patrols because they allow quick entry and exit.
