A late-night store run on International Boulevard ended in gunfire for a 61-year-old man today, after he was shot while leaving a shop on the 7000 block in East Oakland, police said. The man drove himself to a hospital, where he was treated for a wound to his foot and listed in stable condition. Investigators said they do not believe he was the intended target.
According to The Mercury News, the shooting erupted at about 10:47 PM. Witnesses told officers that more than 10 shots were fired, and the city’s gunshot-detection system also picked up the rounds, helping police narrow down where to focus their search.
Police Seek Tips
Oakland police said no arrests have been made and that detectives are canvassing the neighborhood for surveillance footage and additional witnesses. They are asking anyone with information to contact the department’s felony assault unit at 510-238-3426 and to email any photos or video to [email protected], according to the Oakland Police Department.
