The Contra Costa County Coroner’s Office on Thursday identified the victim killed in a car crash during a police chase in Oakley as 50-year-old Erwin Queja De La Cruz.
Queja De La Cruz was an Oakley resident who worked as a nurse at Contra Costa Health, hospital officials said in a statement Thursday. The hospital said it was providing support to staff affected by his death.
“All of us at Contra Costa Health are deeply saddened by the tragic death of Erwin de la Cruz, a dedicated and valued member of our team who served as a nurse in our Detention Health division.
