(KRON) — A serial REI thief was detained on Tuesday after stealing from the same Berkeley location twice in two months. According to the Berkeley Police Department, the suspect was detained near the store around 7:33 p.m. after Flock cameras detected their vehicle.
Officers then located the suspect vehicle in REI’s parking lot, where they found a theft device that is used to bypass security sensors. BPD said $2,000 worth of stolen merchandise was found inside the suspect’s vehicle.
