Gun disguised as cell phone, AR-style assault weapon seized from two Oakland smoke shops: police

(KRON) — The Oakland Police Department said Alcoholic and Beverage Abatement Team (ABAT) officers made alarming discoveries after inspecting two smoke shops in the city on Wednesday. No arrests were made.

At the first business, located in the 3800 block of San Leandro Street, ABAT officers seized flavored tobacco, untaxed cigarettes, and narcotics paraphernalia ready for sale, according to OPD.

“Additionally, officers located a small amount of narcotics and a firearm disguised as a cell phone,” OPD said in a news release on Friday.

ABAT conducted a tobacco retail check at the second smoke shop, located in the 2100 block of International Boulevard, where officers found flavored tobacco, untaxed cigarettes, and narcotics paraphernalia for sale.
