Major biotech company shutting down South San Francisco office

(KRON) — One of the world’s largest biotech companies is closing its only office in the Bay Area. Pfizer is shutting down its office space in South San Francisco this month, the company said in a statement.

Pfizer said the departure of the 164,00 square-foot building is due to the office space being “underutilized.”

Employees based out of the five-story building on 181 Oyster Point Blvd. will transition to remote roles, the company added. The closure of the office will go into effect on April 30…
