Rolling Stones Reveal Surprises in New Album Coming This Summer

The Rolling Stones recently offered a glimpse into what fans can anticipate from their upcoming album, Foreign Tongues.

On May 5, the day the album was officially announced, Mick Jagger, Ronnie Wood, and Keith Richards sat down with Conan O’Brien in Brooklyn, New York, for an intimate interview. Speaking before a room filled with press and notable figures such as Odessa A’zion and Christie Brinkley, the legendary trio shared behind-the-scenes stories and insights into the creative process of their latest work.

One notable highlight is the inclusion of Paul McCartney on the album. McCartney, who recently expressed interest in purchasing Prince’s cover of “The Long and Winding Road” from the late artist’s estate, appears on a track originally recorded for the Stones’ previous album, Hackney Diamonds, but ultimately left off. This collaboration came together spontaneously, adding an exciting dimension to the record.

Mick Jagger recounted a memorable moment during the recording: “I turned up one day to do my vocals in London, and there’s this bloke standing there wearing a long gown. When he turned around, he was covered in lipstick.

I said, ‘I’ve never met you before – you’re Robert Smith of The Cure,’ and he said, ‘Yeah.’ Then I said, ‘Well, while you’re here, you better do something.’”

This anecdote highlights the album’s eclectic and collaborative spirit.

The band also emphasized their willingness to explore diverse musical styles on Foreign Tongues. Mick explained, “The thing about this record is that while The Stones are a rock band – and you might think we’ve got nothing to prove – we also have the ability to do ballads and dance music.

We run the gamut.” He added, “We’ve loved all kinds of music over the years, and that’s reflected in how we record.”

Keith Richards chimed in, noting, “It’s quite possible there’s still more in there.” Conan O’Brien responded, “There’s always this feeling with you guys that the best thing might still be out there, and you’ve got to try and find it, which is remarkable.”

Among the tracks, Mick pointed out “Ringing Hollow,” describing it as “kind of a love song to America.” He explained that the song’s sound leans more toward country than rock and roll, which suited the sentiment better.

Foreign Tongues is set to be released on July 10, 2026, promising another chapter in the enduring legacy of The Rolling Stones.
