Tony Awards Return Sunday with Big Names and Broadway Hits

The 79th Annual Tony Awards are set to take center stage this Sunday at New York City’s Radio City Music Hall, celebrating the finest achievements on Broadway. The ceremony will be broadcast live on CBS at 8 p.m. ET and will also be available for streaming on Paramount+.

This year, Grammy-winning singer Pink takes on hosting duties, bringing her signature energy to the event. The show will feature performances from the casts of several standout productions, including The Lost Boys, *Schmigadoon!

*, Titanique, Two Strangers (Carry a Cake Across New York), Cats: The Jellicle Ball, Ragtime, and Richard O’Brien’s The Rocky Horror Show. Additionally, the original cast of The Book of Mormon-Josh Gad, Andrew Rannells, Rory O’Malley, and Nikki M.

James-will reunite to mark the musical’s 15th Broadway anniversary. A special 30th anniversary tribute to Chicago will also be performed by Queen Latifah, Pink, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Julianne Hough, and others.

The star-studded list of presenters includes Adrien Brody, Annette Bening, Ariana DeBose, Ben Platt, Bernadette Peters, Billy Crystal, Bowen Yang, Carrie Coon, Darren Criss, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Kristin Chenoweth, Lena Waithe, Maya Rudolph, Megan Thee Stallion, Neil Patrick Harris, Nicole Scherzinger, Patrick Wilson, Paul Rudd, Sarah Paulson, Sting, and many more.

Leading the nominations this year are The Lost Boys and Schmigadoon!, each earning 12 nods including Best Musical. They will compete against Titanique and Two Strangers (Carry a Cake Across New York) for the top honor in that category.

In the Best Play category, contenders include The Balusters by David Lindsay-Abaire, Giant by Mark Rosenblatt, Liberation by Bess Wohl, and Little Bear Ridge Road by Samuel D. Hunter.

Acting nominations for Best Leading Actor in a Play feature Will Harrison (Punch), Nathan Lane (Death of a Salesman), John Lithgow (Giant), Daniel Radcliffe (Every Brilliant Thing), and Mark Strong (Oedipus). Meanwhile, the Best Leading Actress in a Play category includes Rose Byrne (Fallen Angels), Carrie Coon (Bug), Susannah Flood (Liberation), Lesley Manville (Oedipus), and Kelli O’Hara (Fallen Angels).
