Savannah Guthrie has once again spoken out as the search for her missing mother, Nancy Guthrie, continues into its fifth month.
The “Today” show anchor, 54, took to Instagram on June 7 to share a heartfelt message about her 84-year-old mother, who was reported missing on February 1. Authorities have stated that Nancy was taken from her Arizona home against her will.
In her Instagram story, Guthrie posted a piece of religious artwork accompanied by the words, “Oh my, my soul it cries out, soul, it cries out.” She captioned the image simply but poignantly with, “Bring her home,” followed by a heart emoji.
Since Nancy’s disappearance, Savannah Guthrie has been urging the public to come forward with any information that might help locate her mother. Back in February, the family offered a $1 million reward for any leads that lead to Nancy’s recovery. At that time, Guthrie expressed the heartbreaking possibility that her mother “may already be gone,” but emphasized that “we need to know where she is.”
After taking some time off from the “Today” show following her mother’s disappearance, Guthrie returned in early April. In May, she posted a touching tribute on Instagram for Mother’s Day, sharing home video clips of Nancy.
She wrote, “Mother, daughter, sister, Nonie − we miss you with every breath. We will never stop looking for you.
We will never be at peace until we find you.”
As the investigation continues, Arizona authorities have yet to report any major breakthroughs. However, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos told People magazine in May that he believes the case is moving closer to resolution.
“Every day, our DNA labs are working with our investigators, coming up with new ideas and approaches to make the DNA evidence work for us,” Sheriff Nanos said. “We’re trying to do more with what we have, and that’s why I believe we’re getting closer.”
The search remains active, with hope that new information will soon bring answers to Nancy Guthrie’s family and loved ones.
