- I’m a Costco executive member. Even though I only shop for one, I love buying these 10 items in bulk. (businessinsider.com)
Though I shop just for myself, Costco remains my go-to for bulk buys and great deals, thanks to my executive membership that I share with a family member. Whether it’s breakfast staples, snacks, or fresh produce, I always find items that suit my solo lifestyle while offering excellent value.
One of my must-haves is the Kirkland Signature breakfast sandwiches. These croissant sandwiches, filled with applewood-smoked bacon, egg, and cheese, are a lifesaver on hectic mornings-quick to heat in the microwave or air fryer and delicious every time. Alongside that, the Nescafé Gold instant espresso from Costco makes my at-home coffee feel like a special treat, something I’ve struggled to find elsewhere.
For fresh produce, I always pick up a bag of 4Earth Farms rainbow carrots. The hand-peeled, colorful carrots last me several servings and are versatile-roasted with butter and dill, enjoyed raw as a snack, or blended into smoothies. Another snack favorite is the Stonefire naan dippers, especially when paired with a zesty cilantro chutney; they’re even better when on sale.
When I want a quick, restaurant-style snack, the Bibigo vegetable spring rolls are a fantastic freezer staple, complete with a soy ginger dipping sauce that makes them taste like takeout. Cheese lovers will appreciate the Tillamook sharp cheddar I keep on hand-its bold flavor enhances everything from enchiladas to sandwiches, and it’s perfect for snacking with crackers.
Peanut butter is another kitchen essential for me. I always grab the two-pack of Skippy creamy peanut butter at Costco because it lasts and is incredibly versatile-great in smoothies, as a dip for apples, or mixed with chili-garlic sauce for chicken strips. Speaking of chicken, the Kirkland Signature chunked chicken breast is my reliable protein source: lean, easy to store, and perfect for sandwiches, salads, or sautéed dishes.
I also make full use of the Highline organic mini bella mushrooms. Though it might seem like a large quantity for one person, I use them in many meals-from sautéed pasta dishes to salads and baked appetizers with cream cheese and garlic.
Finally, Costco’s wine selection suits solo shoppers perfectly since you can buy individual bottles rather than cases. I often pick up whatever’s on sale, giving me the chance to try a wide range without committing to large quantities.
In sum, Costco’s combination of bulk buying, quality products, and smart deals makes it an ideal shopping destination, even for those of us who shop for one.
