Godfather Actor Anthony Guidera Dies at 65 After Sudden Collapse

Anthony Guidera, best known for his role as Anthony, a devoted bodyguard in the 1990 Francis Ford Coppola film The Godfather Part III, passed away on Saturday, June 6, at the age of 65.

Details surrounding his cause of death have not been publicly disclosed. However, his wife, Valerie, shared that Anthony had been on life support since May 11 after suffering a sudden cardiac arrest at home, where he collapsed without a heartbeat.

Following his wishes, Valerie made the difficult decision to remove his ventilator after bringing him home from the hospital. He passed away three weeks later.

Guidera’s career took off with his portrayal of the loyal Corleone family bodyguard in the iconic Godfather trilogy’s final chapter. He was also recognized for his role as Robbie in the 1995 sci-fi film Species, which earned him and co-star Natasha Henstridge an MTV Movie Award for Best Kiss. His filmography includes supporting roles in well-known movies such as The Rock, The Postman, and Armageddon.

In addition to his film work, Guidera made appearances on popular television series including Baywatch, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Angel, and Renegade.

A native of San Francisco, Anthony Guidera leaves behind a legacy marked by memorable performances in both film and television.
