On November 15, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will honor five influential figures in film during its 17th Governors Awards ceremony at the Ray Dolby Ballroom in Ovation Hollywood. Among the recipients are acclaimed actress Glenn Close and renowned director Ridley Scott, both set to receive honorary Oscars in recognition of their outstanding contributions to cinema.
Glenn Close, known for her powerful performances in films like Fatal Attraction, has been nominated for eight competitive Oscars but has yet to claim a win. Similarly, Ridley Scott, the visionary behind Blade Runner and other iconic films, has earned four Oscar nominations but will now be honored with an honorary statuette, marking a milestone in his celebrated career.
Joining them are animator Floyd Norman and producers Christine Vachon and Pamela Koffler. Vachon and Koffler will receive the prestigious Irving G. Thalberg Memorial Award, acknowledging their pivotal role in championing bold and distinctive storytelling within American independent cinema.
