- White House rages at Weather Channel for reporting poor weather predicted at Trump’s UFC birthday bash (themirror.com)
The White House reacted strongly after The Weather Channel reported unfavorable weather conditions ahead of the UFC Freedom 250 event scheduled for Sunday on the White House South Lawn.
The official Rapid Response account, managed by the Trump administration, took to X to criticize The Weather Channel’s post, accusing the outlet of posting “clickbait” and disparaging the author behind the weather update.
“This event is about celebrating America’s unmatched greatness after 250 years – which apparently doesn’t sit well with the friendless loser who wrote this bull—- clickbait headline. Rain or shine, we’re celebrating our great country no matter what. GOD BLESS AMERICA,” the statement read.
The Weather Channel had earlier shared a forecast warning of potentially disruptive weather for the outdoor UFC event, citing a 60% chance of thunderstorms, heavy rain, and wind gusts up to 34 mph. Additionally, the forecast highlighted the challenge posed by intense D.C. humidity, which could push the heat index above 100 degrees, along with swarms of mosquitoes and gnats that fighters might face inside the cage. While the venue’s large 92-foot overhang is expected to keep the octagon dry, any lightning strike within an eight-mile radius would trigger a mandatory 30-minute pause in the event.
The White House’s expletive-filled response quickly drew widespread mockery on social media. “Crashing out because The Weather Channel is reporting on… weather is unhinged on another level,” one user commented on X.
Another added, “Imagine getting this emotional because The Weather Channel checked the forecast. They didn’t insult America… they reported humidity.”
Many predicted this incident would be remembered as a bizarre overreaction in years to come.
The UFC Freedom 250 event, featuring a headline fight between Ilia Topuria and Justin Gaethje, has already faced controversy, including a recent legal challenge that threatened its cancellation. While the celebration marking former President Trump’s 80th birthday appears set to proceed, weather remains a significant concern.
The UFC has never held a fully outdoor event before, and current forecasts are far from ideal, with temperatures reaching around 74 degrees but feeling like 102, along with an 80% chance of rain and a 55% chance of thunderstorms. UFC President Dana White has stated that rain will not stop the fights, but any lightning will require immediate pauses for safety.
As the event approaches, all eyes are on the skies-and the fighters-to see if nature will cooperate with this historic outdoor bout.
