An ICE agent was struck by a suspect’s vehicle and discharged their firearm during a confrontation in Manahawkin, New Jersey, on Monday morning, authorities reported. The suspect managed to flee the scene and remains at large.
The incident occurred shortly after 9:30 a.m. along Route 72, where federal immigration agents were attempting to apprehend the individual, according to the Stafford Township Police Department. During the attempt, the suspect allegedly hit an ICE agent with their vehicle while trying to escape.
The agent responded by firing at the vehicle, which was reportedly hit by gunfire. Despite this, the suspect drove away and had not been located as of Monday afternoon. Details regarding the extent of the agent’s injuries or whether the suspect was wounded have not been disclosed.
