A construction worker tragically lost his life Monday at the site of the Denver Broncos’ new $175 million training facility in Centennial, Colorado. Following the incident, all work on the project has been suspended as authorities investigate the circumstances surrounding the death.
Arapahoe County sheriff’s deputies and South Metro Fire Rescue responded to the location at 13409 East Broncos Parkway around 8:20 p.m. after coworkers discovered the man unresponsive in a confined ceiling area of the building. Despite rescue efforts, the worker was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not been released pending notification of his family.
The cause and manner of death are currently under investigation by the Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office.
Turner Construction, the company responsible for building the facility, issued a statement expressing condolences to the worker’s family and colleagues. The company confirmed that work at the site has been halted as they cooperate with the ongoing investigation, describing the loss as “heartbreaking.”
The Denver Broncos organization also released a statement mourning the worker’s passing, offering sympathies to his family, friends, and coworkers during this difficult time.
The new training facility, named Broncos Park, was scheduled to be ready this week. Construction began in August 2024, with the project aimed at replacing the team’s 30-year-old building and uniting both football and business operations under one roof for the first time.
The 205,000-square-foot, three-story building features a modern mass-timber design, a player-focused first floor designed for efficiency, and an underground parking garage. Broncos owner Greg Penner had previously praised the facility as a unifying force for the organization, with the building expected to be operational ahead of the 2026 NFL season.
This tragic incident casts a shadow over what was poised to be a major milestone for the franchise, which has invested heavily in upgrading its infrastructure and enhancing the player and staff experience. The Broncos and Turner Construction continue to prioritize safety as the investigation proceeds.
