Michael Jackson’s former wife, Debbie Rowe, made a rare public appearance this week, showing a noticeably different look as she went about her day in Palmdale, California.
At 66 years old, Debbie was spotted outside a local bank dressed casually in an oversized t-shirt featuring the playful slogan, “Horses Make Me Feel Less Murdery,” paired with loose-fitting light-wash jeans. This outing marks one of her few public moments since her 2000 divorce from the King of Pop, after nearly three years of marriage. The couple shares two children, Prince Jackson and Paris Jackson.
Debbie has lived a notably private life since the split, largely staying out of the spotlight. Meanwhile, her daughter Paris continues to be involved in a legal dispute concerning Michael Jackson’s estate. As a beneficiary, Paris has challenged the estate’s financial management, recently winning a court order to recover $625,000 in bonuses paid to outside law firms.
Despite years of estrangement following the divorce and custody arrangements that limited her contact with Paris, Debbie and her daughter have since rebuilt a close relationship. They first reunited publicly in 2013 to celebrate Paris’s 15th birthday and have grown closer since.
Paris supported her mother through a breast cancer diagnosis in 2016, standing by her during treatment. Debbie was declared cancer-free the following year.
In a 2021 interview, Paris described their renewed bond as more of an adult friendship than a traditional mother-daughter relationship, highlighting their similarities and the enjoyment of getting to know each other anew.
Today, Debbie leads a quiet life on her Palmdale ranch, dedicating much of her time to caring for and breeding horses. Meanwhile, Paris is actively pursuing a career in music and modeling. She is currently touring North America to promote her single “Teenage Drama” and has walked in major fashion shows during Paris Fashion Week for designers such as Tom Ford, Chloé, and Mugler.
