Meghan McCain Criticizes Former ‘The View’ Co-Hosts After JD Vance Interview

Meghan McCain, former conservative panelist on ABC’s The View, didn’t hold back in her response to her ex-co-hosts following their June 16 interview with Vice President JD Vance. The 41-year-old, daughter of the late Senator John McCain, described the hosts’ performance as “s—-y and undisciplined” in a sharp critique shared on social media.

McCain, who was part of the show from 2017 to 2021, has been vocal about her negative experiences on The View, often highlighting clashes with Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin, and Sara Haines. Her latest comments came after Vance, also 41, appeared on the program and appeared at times to struggle to get a word in amid the hosts’ frequent interruptions and heated exchanges.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), McCain expressed frustration with how her former colleagues handled the segment, pointing out their frequent factual errors, difficulty managing the discussion, and tendency to yell over each other. “My biggest takeaway from Vance on The View is honestly how s—-y and undisciplined the hosts STILL ARE.

After all these years they still get basic facts wrong, flub easy questions and can’t get through a segment without yelling at each other. Vance handled it very well,” she wrote.

During the interview, Vance faced tough questions on topics including the administration’s unfulfilled promises to reduce prices, immigration policy, and the Epstein Files. The hosts-among them Alyssa Farah Griffin, a former Trump administration official-engaged Vance in pointed discussions, with Whoopi Goldberg confronting him on issues of race and systemic inequities.

Goldberg challenged Vance on the administration’s impact on communities of color, citing the removal of historical sites and the dismantling of majority-Black voting districts, especially in the South. When Vance seemed puzzled by the criticism, Hostin elaborated, emphasizing concerns about Black history being erased and Black leadership being sidelined.

In response, Vance stated, “I think everybody is welcome in our political coalition, even if you didn’t vote for us. Everybody is welcome in our country so long as you are an American citizen.”

McCain’s rebuke reflects the turbulent dynamic she experienced on the show, where ideological differences often led to heated confrontations. During her final year, she frequently sparred with her more liberal co-hosts, including an exchange with Behar shortly after returning from maternity leave, in which Behar bluntly told her, “I did not miss you. Zero.”

As the debate around the interview continues, McCain’s sharp comments underscore the ongoing tensions surrounding The View and its panel’s approach to political discourse.
