Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark has officially stepped into the spotlight with her very own signature sneaker. On Wednesday, Clark unveiled the Nike Caitlin 1, putting an end to months of anticipation since Nike first teased her signature logo last year.
Set to release on October 1, the shoe is expected to retail for $140 in North America and $135 internationally, according to reports. Clark likened this debut to a “killer” first album, emphasizing the importance of making a strong impression.
The Nike Caitlin 1 sports a striking royal blue design featuring Clark’s interlocking “CC” logo prominently on the tongue and outsole. The shoe boasts a textured upper and a layered Nike Swoosh, cleverly crafted to mimic her initials. Additional details include “C” shaped nodes on the outside and “2” shapes inside, paying homage to her jersey number 22.
Hidden messages under the sole add a personal touch with phrases like “Shoot More Threes,” “From Anywhere,” and “It was never a long shot.” Clark described these subtle details as fun “Easter eggs” for fans to discover up close, offering a different experience than simply watching her play on the court.
In the lead-up to the reveal, Clark dropped hints by switching up her Instagram profile to feature parts of the shoe, stepping away from her usual Kobe Bryant sneakers, and sporting a blue outfit with a bracelet marked “10-01-26,” alluding to the launch date.
The Caitlin 1 incorporates Nike’s new “Opticast” technology, designed to reduce drag and enhance movement-tailored specifically to Clark’s speed, range, and unpredictability on the court. Clark expressed her desire for the shoe to be stylish yet comfortable, suitable for both game day and everyday wear.
Alongside the sneaker, Nike is rolling out an 18-piece apparel collection including jackets, T-shirts, and graphic hoodies, expanding Clark’s footprint in the sportswear world.
Clark joins an elite group as the fifth active WNBA player to have a signature shoe from a major brand, alongside Angel Reese (Reebok), Breanna Stewart (Puma), Sabrina Ionescu (Nike), and A’ja Wilson (Nike). Her influence in the league has already been transformative, boosting ratings and attendance, and now she has the signature shoe to solidify her impact.
Reflecting on her journey, Clark admitted she never imagined this moment as a kid-but now, it’s her reality.
