Houston Police Reopen Investigation into Death of Missing Woman Found in Man’s Apartment
Houston authorities have reopened the investigation into the death of 34-year-old Brittany Gamble, whose body was discovered in an apartment nearly a week after she disappeared. The case had initially been closed but is now back under review amid troubling new details and family concerns.
Gamble, who suffered from diabetes and epilepsy, was discharged from St. Joseph’s Medical Center on the evening of November 19 following treatment for diabetic ketoacidosis. Her remains were found on November 27 in the apartment of 45-year-old Dennis Greer, who reportedly contacted 911.
Medical reports reveal Gamble’s body bore multiple injuries, including cuts, bruises, and abrasions. The Harris County Medical Examiner’s office described the circumstances of her death as “suspicious” but listed the cause as “undetermined” due to conflicting accounts and incomplete information. They noted the possibility of foul play could not be ruled out and that the case might be revisited if new evidence emerges.
What has deeply unsettled Gamble’s family are videos allegedly posted online by Greer in the days before her body was found. According to her sister, Reberkah Falke, these videos show Greer engaging in everyday activities such as eating and shopping, all while Gamble’s body lay in the same apartment. Some footage reportedly captured Greer placing cotton balls in his nose, which Falke believes was an attempt to cope with the smell of decomposition.
Additional footage, described as lasting four hours, allegedly depicts Greer sleeping on the same mattress as Gamble’s deceased body. Family members characterize Greer’s behavior in the videos as erratic and paranoid, mentioning that both individuals appeared trapped in the apartment, with Greer expressing fears of intruders or surveillance through the walls.
Police believe Gamble met Greer shortly after leaving the hospital. He reportedly brought her to his apartment, where she appeared in several Facebook Live videos over multiple days. The videos were later removed from social media, but family members uncovered them during their search to locate Gamble after she stopped communicating before Thanksgiving.
Despite Greer’s criminal history, which includes previous murder charges-later dismissed-as well as convictions related to assault, theft, and drug offenses, he has not been charged in connection with Gamble’s death.
The reopened investigation aims to clarify the circumstances surrounding this tragic case and provide answers to a grieving family desperate for justice. Authorities continue to seek information and urge anyone with relevant knowledge to come forward.
