Rod Stewart experienced a concerning moment during his recent concert just weeks after canceling several shows due to health issues.
The 81-year-old rock icon was performing at the Utah First Credit Union Amphitheatre in West Valley City on Friday when fans noticed he was moving more slowly than usual. Video footage obtained by TMZ shows Stewart leaning heavily on equipment throughout the performance. At one point, he turned toward backstage and nodded to his team, who quickly came to his aid.
Crew members brought out an oxygen tank and applied a cold compress to his neck as Stewart addressed the audience, saying, “The show must go on,” before admitting he had “nearly fainted.”
Stewart’s representative has not yet responded to requests for comment.
This incident follows a string of recent cancellations. Last month, Stewart abruptly called off two Las Vegas shows at Caesars Palace just hours before showtime, citing medical advice. A statement at the time explained he was on vocal rest due to a sinus infection but planned to resume performing in early June.
Earlier in May, Stewart also canceled concerts in California, expressing disappointment and promising to reschedule. Despite these setbacks, he has continued to share glimpses of his personal life, including a trip to Boston with his sons to watch Scotland play in the World Cup. This sparked mixed reactions from fans, some questioning how he could attend the game while canceling performances.
Though Stewart has faced recent health challenges, he remains committed to his music career. While he announced a farewell to large-scale world tours in 2024, he emphasized that he has no intention of retiring from performing altogether. In a statement, Stewart remarked on his vitality and love for music, humorously noting he can still run 100 meters in 18 seconds at age 79.
Fans will be watching closely as Stewart navigates his health while continuing to share his passion for music on stage.
