A 51-year-old Connecticut man tragically died after falling from a significant height during a concert at Madison Square Garden on Saturday night. The victim, identified as Paul Kueker, was attending the Goose concert with his wife when the incident occurred just before 10 p.m.
Kueker fell approximately 150 feet from the Chase Bridge inside the venue. Emergency responders transported him to Bellevue Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
His mother, Patricia Finelli, described him tearfully as “the greatest kid in the whole wide world” and recalled his generous and caring nature, saying, “He took care of me like I was a piece of gold.” Kueker was a devoted husband and father of two.
The band Goose, who were performing their second night at Madison Square Garden as part of their summer tour, expressed their sorrow in a statement: “We are deeply saddened and heartbroken to learn of the tragic event that occurred at tonight’s show. We extend our deepest sympathies to everyone affected. Thank you to the emergency personnel and venue staff who stepped in with care and support.”
Concertgoers described the scene as harrowing. Witnesses reported hearing a loud thud as Kueker fell from one of the upper tiers, which in the arena’s multi-level seating layout is comparable to the height of a 10-story building.
Photos shared by attendees showed a section of seats damaged and cordoned off with police tape. One concertgoer described the aftermath as a “bloodbath,” while others noted the prolonged efforts to stabilize and remove the injured man on a stretcher.
Despite the tragedy, the band resumed their performance with a second set after a lengthy pause, while medical personnel attended to the emergency.
The incident has left the music community and attendees shaken, as they mourn the loss of a beloved fan and family man.
