Target is recalling over 200,000 pairs of children’s sandals due to a serious choking hazard risk. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced Thursday that approximately 211,000 Cat & Jack Toddler Girls’ Sequerah Sandals are affected.
The recall stems from concerns that the decorative plastic pearls on the sandals can detach, posing a potential choking danger to young children. Target has received 23 reports of pearls falling off, though no injuries have been reported to date.
The sandals, sold in sizes 5T through 12T, feature tan raffia straps with gold buckles and plastic pearl embellishments. The brand name is printed on the soles and bottoms of the shoes. These sandals were available at Target stores nationwide and online from January through May 2026, with a retail price around $20.
Consumers who have purchased these sandals are advised to stop using them immediately and keep them away from children. Target is offering full refunds for the recalled footwear. Customers can contact the retailer directly to arrange a return and reimbursement.
This recall highlights the importance of vigilance in children’s products to prevent potential hazards, even with seemingly minor decorative elements.
