Kelly Clarkson Returns to the Vegas Stage with Residency Opening at Caesar’s Palace
Kelly Clarkson, the original American Idol winner, made a triumphant return to Las Vegas on July 17, kicking off the opening night of her long-awaited residency at Caesar’s Palace. The 44-year-old singer’s show had been postponed earlier due to the passing of her ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock.
During her performance, Clarkson took a moment to reflect on the differences between her life as a talk show host and her career as a live entertainer. She also addressed the recent news that her daytime talk show, The Kelly Clarkson Show, will conclude after seven seasons, with its final episode set to air next month.
“I would get fired by NBC, but I don’t work there anymore,” Clarkson joked with the audience, sharing a lighthearted moment captured on social media. She went on to describe the contrasting experiences of working in television versus touring as a musician: “You go to those HR meetings and you’re like, ‘Nobody on the road would last.’
It’s a completely different world. I was 19 on a bus with dudes.
‘What? I can’t do that?’
‘Yeah, that’s totally inappropriate.’”
Clarkson has spoken openly about her decision to end her talk show, citing the desire to focus more on her family. In February, she shared on Instagram, “This was not an easy decision, but this season will be my last hosting The Kelly Clarkson Show. Stepping away from the daily schedule will allow me to prioritize my kids, which feels necessary and right for this next chapter of our lives.”
Her ex-husband Brandon Blackstock, who passed away in 2025 after a private battle with cancer, was the father of their two children, River and Remington.
Clarkson’s Las Vegas residency will continue through August 15, 2026, marking an exciting new chapter in her storied career.
