Barry Manilow Cancels Kentucky Concert Minutes Before Show Amid Cancer Fight

Additional Coverage:

Legendary singer Barry Manilow canceled his scheduled performance in Lexington, Kentucky, on Tuesday just 45 minutes before showtime due to “unforeseen circumstances,” according to a message he posted on X (formerly Twitter). The 82-year-old artist, who revealed last year that he is battling early-stage lung cancer, did not provide further details about the cancellation.

The last-minute change drew mixed reactions from fans online. Some expressed disappointment, labeling the cancellation as “disrespectful,” while many others offered heartfelt support and encouragement for Manilow’s health and recovery.

Manilow first disclosed his lung cancer diagnosis in December after doctors found a suspicious spot on his left lung following a prolonged bout of bronchitis. At the time, he shared on Instagram that the cancer was detected early and required surgery to remove the affected area, with no need for chemotherapy or radiation.

Since then, the singer has had to postpone several tour dates, citing the need to prioritize his health. In February, following a difficult consultation with his surgeon, Manilow revealed that his lungs were not yet ready for the rigors of a full 90-minute performance, leading to further rescheduling of shows.

Despite these setbacks, Manilow has remained optimistic about his recovery. In May, he announced progress in his treatment and expressed hope to return to performing soon, although some dates, such as his May residency at the Westgate Resort in Las Vegas, had to be canceled. He noted that he expected to be ready for his June UK arena shows and hoped to see fans there.

Throughout his health journey, Manilow has received an outpouring of support from fans worldwide, many reminding him to take care of himself and prioritizing his well-being above all else.

As the singer continues his treatment, fans eagerly await his return to the stage, confident that when he does come back, it will be with the same passion and energy that have defined his remarkable career.
