Model Scarlet Vas and her husband, Tayo Ricci-who is also her stepbrother-have announced they are expecting their second child. The couple shared the news through an intimate Instagram video featuring their daughter and a sonogram, accompanied by the caption, “We couldn’t keep this a secret any longer…”
Scarlet and Tayo, who welcomed their first child in December 2024 after marrying in September 2023, have not yet revealed the gender of their upcoming baby. The couple’s unique relationship has drawn public attention since they went viral in 2021 with a video titled “I fell in love with my bf’s best friend… who happens to be my step bro.”
Growing up in Melbourne, the two became stepsiblings when their parents began a relationship. Despite this, they developed a romantic bond and eventually married in Mykonos, Greece. Scarlet has been open about their connection, emphasizing that they are not biologically related and choosing to keep details of their family dynamics private out of respect for their parents.
The pair have faced criticism and negative comments labeling their relationship as “weird” or “gross,” but Scarlet says such negativity doesn’t affect them. “We find trolls very entertaining,” she told News.com.au. “If something’s really negative, we might comment back-it’s quite a good disarming tactic.”
Initially pursuing acting-with Scarlet appearing briefly on the Australian soap opera Neighbours before moving to the U.S.-their plans shifted after the pandemic disrupted the industry. This led them to create online content, where their story and “step sibling” dynamic quickly gained viral popularity.
Scarlet notes that while they never intended to become influencers, their authentic story resonated with audiences, sparking both engagement and controversy. “We didn’t realize ‘step sibling’ content was so popular, maybe because it’s rare,” she said. “But I’ve realized through sharing our story that everyone loves it.”
