Kylie Jenner Says Shes Done Living Such a Big Life

As Kylie Jenner approaches her 29th birthday, she’s taking stock of her life with a fresh perspective and a desire for change before hitting 30. In a recent cover interview, the Kylie Cosmetics founder reflected on the past year as a time of reevaluation, deciding to scale back the overwhelming pace her life had taken.

Earlier this week, Jenner celebrated early with a whimsical “princess kitty” birthday party at her Beverly Hills residence, just days before officially turning 29 on August 10. Rather than focusing on age, she’s more concerned about avoiding future regrets, aiming to seize new opportunities and challenge herself before looking back with “what ifs.”

Much of this newfound mindset stems from growing up constantly in the spotlight. Having spent nearly 20 years on reality TV, Jenner revealed to Who What Wear that the intense scrutiny made her guarded-down to carefully choosing her routes when leaving the house. Now, she’s intentionally working to ease that caution and embrace more freedom.

A notable sign of this shift came with her unexpected comedic role in Charli XCX’s mockumentary, The Moment, which earned praise as one of the film’s standout scenes. Before taking on the part, Jenner consulted her sister Kim Kardashian for advice, rehearsed lines with friends, and even canceled acting coach sessions once she felt prepared. Since then, she’s filmed a commercial and is considering television roles, though she’s selective, having turned down two scripts while awaiting the right project.

Jenner also opened up about the challenges of rapid growth in her early 20s, recalling how buying one of the largest Beverly Hills homes and building a grand lifestyle led her to feel she “lost control” for a time. Looking ahead, she plans to reduce screen time, set firmer boundaries on what she shares publicly, and shift her fashion label, Khy, away from flashy collaborations toward timeless, wardrobe-focused pieces. This includes launching its first footwear collection in partnership with Italian brand Gia Borghini.

Despite these shifts, Jenner remains deeply committed to Kylie Cosmetics, calling it her greatest passion and continuing to be hands-on with her brands. The key difference now is a more measured approach to growth-choosing just a few challenges each year that genuinely intimidate her, rather than spreading herself thin by saying yes to everything.
