Miley Cyrus has revealed plans for her 10th studio album, Bass Persuades, just days after the passing of her godmother, country music icon Dolly Parton.
The 33-year-old artist, who now goes simply by Miley, announced the album on Instagram on September 1, with a release date set for September 18. She also announced a special two-night performance at the Hollywood Bowl scheduled for October 16 and 18. This announcement comes shortly after Dolly Parton’s death on August 25 at age 80, following a brief battle with cancer.
Miley and Dolly shared a close, affectionate relationship, with Miley often referring to the country legend as “Aunt Dolly.” The loss deeply affected the singer.
Accompanying her announcement, Miley posted a striking black-and-white photo of herself holding a white rose in her mouth. She wrote: “My tenth studio album, BASS PERSUADES, is yours September 18th.
Music takes hold of us. We feel it, sing it, sometimes dance to it, let it out, and carry on.
It is powerful, vulnerable, sweet, and strong. Heart full, heartache, every part of life in between.
That’s what the title means to me.”
She added, “Thank you for being a part of making my wildest dreams come true. I sincerely hope you love this album.”
While Miley did not specify if her upcoming Hollywood Bowl shows would include a tribute to Dolly, these performances will mark her return to live concerts since her Spotify Billions Club Live event in Paris earlier this year.
Bass Persuades follows Miley’s 2025 album Something Beautiful, which earned her a nomination for Best Pop Vocal Album at the 68th Annual Grammy Awards. In 2024, she won her first Grammys for Record of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance with the hit single “Flowers” from Endless Summer Vacation.
Following Dolly Parton’s passing, Miley shared a heartfelt Instagram tribute, reflecting on their private bond. “The feeling of losing my Aunt Dolly is beyond what feels right to share. Our most sacred moments were private, and they’ll stay there behind the stage, beneath the glamour & between our hearts,” she wrote alongside a black-and-white portrait of Dolly.
Miley continued, “What I KNOW is Dolly would want me to feel it, write a song about it, and then continue on and be strong. I have an angel by my side.
I always have. One of our last conversations was about music and metamorphosis.”
She concluded, “I will always love her and want to make her proud. My heart breaks for the world, her family, and friends who will miss her deeply. We’re in this loss together, and we will see her in all of the most beautiful things.”
Bass Persuades will be available on all streaming platforms and in stores starting September 18.
