- Inside Chris Janson’s feud with Jimmy Kimmel as country star headlines Kid Rock’s MAGA fest (themirror.com)
Country singer Chris Janson is set to perform at Kid Rock’s Rock The Country festival in Hamburg, New York, this Saturday, September 12. The event, often dubbed a “MAGA fest” by critics, celebrates America’s 250th anniversary with a lineup of popular country artists.
At 40 years old, Janson plans to deliver many of his hit songs during the two-day festival, including “Good Vibes,” a track that once landed him in the middle of a public spat with late-night host Jimmy Kimmel. The disagreement began when Kimmel mocked the song’s message of tuning out the news to stay positive, which Janson performed on Fox & Friends in 2019.
Kimmel played a clip of the song’s chorus, which encourages listeners to “shut your mouth” if they have nothing good to say, but he altered the lyrics humorously to say, “Got my head up my butt like a big moron.” The joke was well-received by Kimmel’s audience but didn’t sit well with Janson, who responded on TikTok, calling out the host and referencing the suspension of Kimmel’s show shortly afterward.
The brief hiatus of Kimmel’s program, pulled from the air by ABC and Disney from September 17-22, was reportedly due to backlash following a controversial joke about the death of political commentator Charlie Kirk. Kimmel has since returned to television and issued a public apology.
Despite the past tension, Chris Janson has moved on and continues to tour across the United States, with upcoming shows scheduled not only at Rock The Country but also in Kentucky, Oklahoma, and Tennessee. Fans can expect plenty of his signature country sound as he rounds out the year on the road.
