As Halloween approaches, Heidi Klum, famously crowned the queen of Halloween, is once again gearing up for her highly anticipated annual costume party. Since its inception in 2000-except for a pause during the 2020 and 2021 pandemic years-this exclusive, invitation-only event has become a staple of October 31 celebrations, with one strict rule: costumes are mandatory for entry.
Each year, fans eagerly await to see what astonishing look Heidi will unveil. Known for her transformative and often unrecognizable disguises, Klum embraces the chance to get creatively “ugly” despite her natural beauty. In an exclusive conversation with Parade, she teased this year’s outfit with one chilling clue: “It’s bloody.”
Over the years, her costumes have ranged from mythical and cinematic icons like Medusa, E.T., and Fiona from Shrek, to inventive creations such as a giant worm or Klum Klones. Heidi fondly recalls some favorites, including an elderly version of herself at age 90 and a towering robot alien with vibrant red skin and purple hair, performed on stilts to add extra height.
This year’s Halloween festivities are partnered with Apothic, America’s leading red blend wine, which has crafted a unique party accessory: the limited-edition Apothic Type ‘A’ Blood Bag. Designed to mimic a blood transfusion bag, this collectible is signed by Heidi and comes in a custom red cooler.
Additionally, Apothic is offering one lucky fan and a guest a chance to attend Heidi’s legendary New York City Halloween party by sharing their Halloween celebration plans with Apothic. Entries are open from September 14 to 27.
Heidi explains the inspiration behind the blood bag accessory: “It’s super gory, but it couldn’t be more fitting because normally you need a blood transfusion bag when something is seriously wrong with you. But Halloween, that’s what Halloween is all about.
It’s not about funny clowns; it’s about gory creatures of the night-Dracula and people sucking blood. So having a blood transfusion bag felt perfect.”
Growing up in Germany, Heidi’s Halloween experience was limited since the holiday was not widely celebrated there. Instead, she participated in the traditional February carnivals where her mother made costumes for her.
It wasn’t until moving to New York at age 20 that she discovered Halloween and noticed a lack of imaginative, well-executed costumes at local parties. Frustrated, she decided to create her own event-one that would set a higher standard and inspire others.
Now, 26 years later, Heidi continues to design her own extravagant costumes, involving her family who share varying degrees of enthusiasm for the holiday. Her daughter Leni impressed guests last year by meticulously recreating the character Camilla Cream from the children’s book A Bad Case of Stripes, painting rainbow stripes all over her skin. Her younger daughter Lou is more drawn to anime, crafting her own wigs styled in the distinctive shapes of beloved characters.
As always, Heidi Klum’s Halloween party promises to deliver spectacular creativity, setting the bar high for 2025’s most unforgettable celebrity costumes.
