A revival of the hit musical series “Glee” is officially underway.
During FX’s “Celebration of American Horror Story” event in New York City on Wednesday, producer Ryan Murphy shared exciting news with Entertainment Tonight: the script for the reboot has just been completed. “I just finished the script an hour ago,” Murphy revealed. “Brad [Falchuk], Ian [Brennan], and I-who wrote all the first two seasons-have written something.”
Originally aired on Fox from 2009 to 2015, “Glee” captivated audiences with its portrayal of a high school glee club and featured a memorable ensemble cast including Lea Michele, the late Cory Monteith, the late Naya Rivera, Amber Riley, Chris Colfer, Kevin McHale, Jenna Ushkowitz, Matthew Morrison, Jane Lynch, and others.
Murphy also mentioned that he has been in contact with about ten members of the original cast, who have responded positively to the idea of returning. “They’ve all had a lot of questions, but they were very enthusiastic,” he said.
“Nobody’s read the script yet, so we’ll see. I wanted to write a few episodes to get a feel for how people, especially the cast, would respond since we were very close while making the show.”
The original “Glee” series earned critical acclaim, winning six Primetime Emmy Awards, multiple Golden Globes, and the GLAAD Media Award for Outstanding Comedy Series in 2010 and 2011.
Meanwhile, Murphy’s other hit series, “American Horror Story,” launched its 13th season this past Thursday.
