Johnny Depp was recently caught in a rather quirky moment at a major food and drink festival in Las Vegas. The 63-year-old actor made an appearance at Drink Las Vegas, a four-day culinary event held from September 24 to 27 across several MGM properties.
Footage obtained by TMZ shows Depp at Park MGM on the evening of September 25. In the video, Depp was surrounded by photographers when he suddenly turned to a leafy backdrop and took a bite out of some greenery.
He then faced the cameras again, leaf still in mouth, posing for photos before dropping the foliage and grabbing a second nibble. With bits of plant still visible, he raised a glass of an unidentified beverage while continuing to engage with the photographers.
The reason behind Depp’s impromptu munching remains unclear, though it appeared to be a lighthearted or humorous gesture. This appearance follows his July outing at San Diego Comic-Con, where he dressed as Ebenezer Scrooge to promote his upcoming film, Ebenezer: A Christmas Carol.
Depp’s recent public moments come amid continued attention on his personal life. The actor has been open about past struggles with substance abuse. During his 2020 libel case against The Sun, Depp admitted to heavy drinking and spending over $30,000 monthly on wine before entering rehab.
His turbulent relationship with ex-wife Amber Heard has also been widely publicized. Heard accused Depp of alcoholism, drug addiction, and abuse, allegations Depp acknowledged in terms of substance use but denied regarding violence.
