Miley Cyrus has scored her first No. 1 album in over a decade with her latest release, Bass Persuades. The album debuted atop the Billboard 200 chart dated October 3, moving 61,000 equivalent album units in the U.S. during the week ending September 24, according to Luminate.
This marks Cyrus’s sixth album to reach No. 1 and her 16th to land in the top 10. It’s her first chart-topping album since Bangerz back in 2013.
*Cyrus revealed Bass Persuades on September 1, and the album dropped just a few weeks later on September 18. The title track, which also serves as the lead single, was released shortly before the announcement and debuted at No. 35 on the Billboard Hot 100.
The new album follows last year’s Something Beautiful, released in June 2025, which peaked at No. 4.
Sales for Bass Persuades were driven primarily by traditional album purchases, accounting for 47,000 of the first-week units, earning Cyrus the No. 1 spot on the Top Album Sales chart as well. Streaming added another 14,000 units, with approximately 14.22 million on-demand streams.
Fans had a variety of options to buy the album, including 16 different vinyl editions-one featuring a bonus track-nine CD versions, six digital formats, and even a cassette release.
Cyrus isn’t alone in making a strong return to the top of the charts this year. She’s the third artist in 2026 to achieve a No. 1 album after a decade or more away. Earlier this year, Bruno Mars reached No. 1 in March with The Romantic, his first in 13 years, while A$AP Rocky hit No. 1 in January with Don’t Be Dumb, just over 10 years since his last chart-topper.
In a recent interview, Cyrus shared insights into the inspiration behind Bass Persuades, describing it as more than just a simple love story. “This album is a love story, but love stories are never one-dimensional.
They’re always layered,” she explained. “There is definitely a romantic thread weaving through it because, like all my records, it’s a reflection of where I am in my life.”
Currently engaged to musician Maxx Morando, Cyrus noted that the themes of this album stand out due to their consistency in her life. “This feels especially meaningful because this feeling has stayed with me through multiple eras,” she said.
“That’s something I hadn’t really experienced before. A peaceful kind of love has become a theme across my last three records.”
