White House to Send $90 Medicare Rebate to 20 Million Seniors

Additional Coverage:

President Donald Trump announced on Friday that his administration will distribute $90 payments to certain seniors enrolled in Medicare Part B, marking another round of financial relief as the midterm elections near.

The payments will be sent to approximately 20 million of the more than 60 million Medicare Part B beneficiaries. This $90 amount is intended to cover nearly half of the typical monthly premium, which is about $203. Medicare Part B primarily covers outpatient services such as doctor’s visits.

However, the White House clarified that individuals whose premiums are already covered by Medicaid or who pay income-related surcharges will not qualify for these payments. According to the announcement, the funds for this initiative will come from the Medicare Improvement Fund, a resource established by Congress in 2008 to support enhancements in the traditional Medicare program.

Eligible seniors can verify their status by calling 1-800-633-4227, and those seeking information about their payment can contact 1-800-772-1213. The administration indicated that the payments are expected to be distributed by early October.
