A young man who spent 18 days in a coma following a severe skateboarding accident has shared a profound near-death experience in which he says he encountered Jesus and glimpsed the afterlife.
In October 2021, Gabe Poirot was traveling at approximately 30 miles per hour on an electric skateboard when he struck an obstacle on the road. The impact launched him six feet into the air, causing him to land headfirst on the sidewalk without wearing a helmet.
As emergency responders rushed Gabe to the hospital, his friend John Michael urgently contacted his parents to inform them of the accident. By the time Gabe arrived at the hospital, he was already on life support. Gabe recounted to the Christian Broadcasting Network, “By the time the ambulance had gotten there, honestly, I was suctioned up by light to this tunnel of light, suctioned me up out of there.”
During his time in the coma, Gabe says he met Jesus and experienced a vivid vision of the afterlife. Speaking with Fox News’ ‘Saturday in America’ with Kayleigh McEnany, he described the encounter: “With every single person I meet, I tell them of the love of Christ and that he did it all for them. He died and rose again.”
Gabe emphasized that the Jesus he saw was not the gentle or passive figure often portrayed, but rather a powerful and commanding presence. “Jesus is a man.
And especially in America, he’s been misrepresented. There are so many cultural things that present him as some tolerant guy.
That’s not the Jesus I met; he’s a lion. But he’s not a lion angry against me, he’s a lion angry for me.
He’s a mustang on my behalf. He did it all for me.”
He went on to describe Jesus as “pure fire,” standing nearly six feet tall yet appearing “tall as eternity,” with eyes burning white and red simultaneously. “Talk about testosterone, like a mustang, I’m telling you. He’s the lion of Judah and there’s a roar within his voice.”
After 18 days in the coma, a family friend prayed over Gabe, and he believes it was this spiritual intervention that brought him back to consciousness. He shared, “Closer to the end of my time with Him, these prayers formed a bridge on the earth.
I literally saw these bridges being formed. And sure enough, the bridges gathered, and then Jesus united himself with them, and they got bigger and bigger.”
Gabe recalls witnessing the prayers of his loved ones-his family, friends, and a woman named Ginger-rising to Christ’s heart, and it was through these prayers that he was sent back to life.
Since his recovery, Gabe has documented his extraordinary experience in a book, sharing his story with others inspired by his journey of faith and healing.
