Suzi Quatro, the iconic rockstar whose career spans more than five decades, continues to shine brightly at age 76. On October 5, the legendary singer shared a heartfelt Instagram post, expressing gratitude for her enduring success and life in music. Sporting her trademark black leather jacket, Quatro’s radiant smile and sparkling blue eyes captured the essence of a joyful and grounded artist.
In her caption, Quatro reflected on her journey with humility and appreciation: “Am posting this photo simply because I like this photo. It captures the twinkle in my eye, my genuine smile, and of course my leather jacket.
Basically I am a happy down to earth normal-ish person who has been blessed with success in my chosen career. I thank the powers that be for making this possible.
God bless🙏🙏🙏❤❤❤.”
Quatro rose to fame in the 1970s with hits like “Can the Can” and “Devil Gate Drive,” and gained additional recognition with her role as Leather Tuscadero on the popular ABC sitcom Happy Days between 1977 and 1979. Her biggest U.S. chart success came with the duet “Stumblin’ In,” which reached number four on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1979.
Over her extensive career, Quatro has released 20 albums, including her latest collaboration, Freedom, with her son LR Tuckey, released earlier this year. Despite her long tenure in the industry, she shows no signs of slowing down.
In a candid interview earlier this year, Quatro shared her philosophy on retirement. First asked about retiring in her mid-30s, she famously responded that she would only step away when she could no longer deliver a performance up to her own standards.
Now at 76, she remains committed to that ideal: “I will retire when I go on stage and do not deliver to my standard. When I feel that, I’m done.”
More than 50 years into her career, Suzi Quatro remains a beloved and down-to-earth rock icon-still smiling, still grateful, and still rocking audiences around the world.
