John Walsh, the iconic host of “America’s Most Wanted,” rose to fame after his six-year-old son, Adam Walsh, was abducted and killed in 1981. In response to this tragedy, John and his wife, Revé Drew, founded the Adam Walsh Child Resource Center, which later merged with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Adam Walsh, born in 1974, was tragically abducted from a Sears store at the Hollywood Mall when he was just six years old. His severed head was found in a drainage canal two weeks later. Adam’s murder remained unsolved for many years, but John and Revé’s activism led to the creation of important legislation, including the Missing Children Act of 1982 and the Missing Children’s Assistance Act of 1984. They have also advocated for a Constitutional amendment for victims’ rights. In 2006, the Adam Walsh Child Protection and Safety Act was signed into law.
