On Monday morning, the nominations for the 2024 Razzie Awards were announced, with the action film “Expend4bles” leading the pack. Starring Sylvester Stallone and Jason Statham, the movie, also known as “The Expendables 4,” received a total of seven nominations for the 44th Golden Raspberry Awards. These nominations include worst picture, worst supporting actor for Stallone, and worst director for Scott Waugh.

The Golden Raspberry Awards, which honor the worst in cinema, announced the contenders one day before the Oscar nominations were revealed. The winners of the Razzie Awards will be announced on March 9, which coincides with the eve of the Oscars this year.

Coming in close behind “Expend4bles” were two horror films, “The Exorcist: Believer” and “Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey,” each receiving five nominations. Superhero movies also didn’t fare well, as “Shazam! Fury of the Gods” and “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” both received four nominations.

The Razzie Awards faced backlash in the previous year when they nominated 12-year-old Ryan Kiera Armstrong for worst actress in the film “Firestarter.” After retracting Armstrong’s nomination and apologizing to the young actress, the award show changed its nomination process, excluding actors and filmmakers under the age of 18 from consideration.

In early 2022, the Razzies rescinded an award given to actor Bruce Willis due to his diagnosis with the cognitive disorder aphasia.
