Fans of actor Logan Lerman are getting a first look at his upcoming series “We Were the Lucky Ones” through a series of images released by Hulu. The series, based on Georgia Hunter’s novel of the same name, follows a Jewish family as they try to survive and reunite after being separated at the beginning of World War II. The story will cover multiple generations of the Kurc family, with Lerman and Joey King starring as Addy and Halina respectively. The cast also includes Hadas Yaron, Henry-Lloyd Hughes, Amit Rahav, Sam Woolf, Michael Aloni, Moran Rosenblatt, Eva Feiler, Lior Ashkenazi, and Robin Weigert. Showrunner and writer Erica Lipez, along with director Thomas Kail and executive producers Jennifer Todd and Adam Milch, worked on the production, which was primarily filmed in Romania.

Lipez explained that she was drawn to adapt the story into a screenplay because of its incredible family tale based on true events. It spans nine years and four continents, taking viewers from Poland to Siberia, France, West Africa, and Brazil. Likening Lerman’s openness to the character of Addy, Lipez expressed how the actor had a personal connection to the material through his own family’s story. She also highlighted the chemistry and similarities between Lerman and King, who previously starred together in the film “Bullet Train” and are close friends in real life.

“We Were the Lucky Ones” will premiere on Hulu on March 28th.
