The Golden State Warriors will be wearing all-black T-shirts this week as a tribute to assistant coach Dejan Milojević, who recently passed away. The team unveiled the shirt during a press conference, which features Milojević’s initials inside a heart and the word “BRATE” (meaning “brother” in Serbian). Head coach Steve Kerr expressed the devastation and heartbreak the team has been experiencing since Milojević’s sudden medical emergency and passing on January 16. He described the past week as being incredibly difficult.
Despite the tragedy, Kerr acknowledged the efforts of Milojević’s former Serbian teams, Mega and Partizan, for honoring him during their game on Monday. The fans and organizations demonstrated a heartfelt dedication to Milojević, which Kerr found to be incredible.
Milojević joined the Warriors’ coaching staff in 2021, and in light of his passing, the NBA postponed the team’s games against the Utah Jazz and the Dallas Mavericks. The Warriors are scheduled to play their first game since Milojević’s death against the Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday.
