Joey Graziadei started handing out roses on the premiere of The Bachelor on Monday, January 22. Us Weekly had the opportunity to speak with Joey and discuss the biggest moments from the episode. Out of the 32 women that he met at the Bachelor mansion, four contestants caught Joey’s attention: Daisy, Kelsey, Autumn, and Lexi.
Joey responded to Us Weekly’s guess at the final four by saying that he thinks they are all amazing and that viewers will have to wait and see how their stories unfold. The Bachelor airs on ABC on Mondays at 8 p.m. ET.
In terms of the limo entrances, Joey refused to choose a least favorite. He appreciated the effort each woman put into their entrance, but he did mention that he enjoyed Lauren’s shotgun beer idea the most as it was a fun way to break the ice.
One standout moment from the premiere was when Lauren’s younger sister, Allie, joined her on the show. It was Allie who received the first kiss from Joey, causing some awkwardness between the sisters. However, both women received roses at the rose ceremony.
Joey commented on the dynamics of the house, stating that he was more focused on connecting with the women and getting to know them individually rather than paying attention to the group dynamics.
Another moment of drama occurred when Jess claimed to have had the first kiss with Joey and stole him away from another contestant, Taylor. Joey admitted that on the first night, his main focus was on connecting with the women and he didn’t pay much attention to the drama within the house.
Lea received a special date card from host Jesse Palmer during the After the Final Rose special. She had the power to steal a one-on-one date from any contestant until the hometown dates. Lea chose to burn the date card, impressing Joey and earning herself the first impression rose.
Joey praised Lea for her decision, stating that she handled a difficult situation with grace and showed a caring and selfless nature.
While Joey may not have kissed as many women as previous Bachelors on the first night, he did have some makeout sessions. Maria voiced her concern about Joey kissing multiple people, but she too ended up kissing him during their alone time.
Joey mentioned that he didn’t go into the night with expectations or a pre-determined number for kisses. He followed his gut and the moments that felt right for a connection.
Overall, the premiere had its fair share of memorable moments, and viewers will have to stay tuned to see how Joey’s journey as The Bachelor unfolds.
