YouTube creator MrBeast recently conducted an experiment on the platform X, earning $250,000 in ad revenue. However, he has now announced that he will be giving away the entire sum. MrBeast stated that he would give $25,000 to 10 randomly selected individuals who reposted his message and followed him on the platform “for fun.”
After testing the ad revenue potential of one of his videos on X, MrBeast has decided to give away all of the $250,000 he earned. He made the announcement, saying that he would choose the winners within 72 hours.
The experiment came after X’s owner, Elon Musk, had been trying to persuade MrBeast to join the platform. Musk claimed that creators on X earned $5 million in the initial payment rollout, with some individuals like Andrew Tate reporting substantial earnings.
Despite declining X’s invitation to exclusively post on the platform due to better ad revenue on YouTube, MrBeast decided to give it a try with one of his older videos titled “$1 vs $100,000,000 Car!” The video has gained 216 million views on YouTube and 161 million views on X as of January 23.
On January 22, MrBeast revealed that he had earned over $250,000 from his first X video. However, there were concerns among him and other X users that the experiment may not have been entirely fair. MrBeast suspected that the advertisers were attracted by the attention the video received, leading to inflated revenue per view.
Some creators shared their own experiences, claiming that despite earning millions of impressions, their revenue was significantly lower compared to MrBeast’s. One user even accused Elon Musk of giving all the ad revenue to MrBeast, leaving others with nothing.
In response to claims that he rigged the results, Musk posted on X, stating that the “mainstream media” refused to acknowledge the success of MrBeast’s experiment. He denied any efforts on their part to amplify MrBeast’s viewership.
Business Insider reached out to X for comment, but they did not respond.
